Nichimu Inada learned the fundamentals of business from his parents

Company founder Nichimu Inada was born the youngest child of five brothers at Daisenji Temple in Daisen National Park, in Tottori Prefecture in Japan, on November 24, 1940.

Daisen, Tottori national parkDaisen is a popular sightseeing spot in the Chugoku District, where his parents ran an inn at that time.

The inn, having twelve rather large guest rooms, could be called a “ryokan (Japanese-style hotel),” which also had a souvenir shop next door. As a boy, young Nichimu helped his parents by watching the shop and serving customers.

This was exactly the time when his fundamentals for business were formed.

He mastered the fundamentals of business with a high spirit of independence

The 1960s were understaffed times of high economic growth.

In those days, young people from all over Japan were called "golden eggs," and as expected were treated as human resources employed en masse in cities like Osaka and Tokyo.

Boy Nichimu graduated from a commercial high school and got a job in Osaka.
Because he had already passed the 2nd qualification level bookkeeping test and a second qualification level abacus test in high school, he came to display skills as an employee in charge of accounting work.

Nichimu Inada of younger daysAs a new graduate, his first place of employment was a printing machine manufacturer “Hashimoto Tekkosho” in Asahi-ku, Osaka.

It was a company with a grand history the number of employees of which exceeded 150 at that time.

Regrettably, it went out of business several years ago, but it was a 100 years-plus venerable manufacturer.

Here, Nichimu, who had been a mischievous boy locally in Tottori Prefecture, played an active role as young Inada with a spirit of independence.

Regardless of the fact that it was his first year, Inada worked aggressively as an accounting staff member. He quickly learned the skills of settlement of accounts in one year.

Inada who plays an active part as an accounting manIn those days, before computers, all slips and account ledgers were written by hand because computer accounting was not available.
He would not only make and compile simple numerical entries but also always pursue:
“Why is a profit being made?”
“Why is a loss being made?”
The company realized his skill and promise and encouraged him to push forward.

The company realized his skill and promise and encouraged him to push forward.

For example, the company let him take charge of the manufacturing department only one year after joining the company. At the same time, he started working as the person in charge of materials. He also applied himself to sales with any extra time he had.

In those days, as the word “decchi (apprenticeship)” was commonly used, he would do everything including odd jobs, but beyond the scope of these jobs, Inada further challenged himself to do all kinds of things.

Under normal circumstances, the company would not let an 18 or 19 year old boy take on that much after graduation from high school, but might admire and encourage his seriousness.
